Borrowing from the hit reality TV show in America, the Sri Lanka Unites team organised our own “Shark Tank.” It is our latest initiative to advance our nation’s economy, with a focus on the most rural regions of our country.
Nearly 100 students have completed our business entrepreneurship program during the past ten months. They represent our centers in Mullaitivu, Matara, Monaragala, Ampara and Nuwara Eliya. Twelve of the top students and volunteers, who have gone beyond the classroom and launched actual businesses, pitched their ideas to four of Sri Lanka’s most successful entrepreneurs and business tycoons.
Based on the quality of their business idea, the effectiveness of their pitch, and the possibility of expansion, these business leaders will invest their own money in these business and become partners and mentors to these young entrepreneurs.
